Hogwarts Legacy, an upcoming adventure RPG set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, will be released in February. But will Harry Potter creator JK Rowling benefit from the game?
Harry Potter fans will have the freedom to choose their wand, explore Hogwarts, and attend classes with February’s Hogwarts Legacy.
But, there has also been some controversy regarding the title. Harry Potter author JK Rowling has been accused of transphobia following a series of controversial statements supporting TERF (Trans-Exclusive Radical Feminism) ideology.
Because of these comments, transgender people and supporters of the transgender community are choosing to boycott Hogwarts Legacy in an effort to push back against her outspoken views. This begs the question, will JK Rowling benefit from the Hogwarts legacy, and how involved is she with the game?

JK Rowling to profit from sale of Hogwarts Legacy. The Harry Potter IP is still owned by her, and Rowling will be paid royalties from its sales. Thus, making money from each Hogwarts Heritage purchase.
Is JK Rowling Involved in the Hogwarts Legacy?
No, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was not directly involved with the development of the Hogwarts legacy.
in one general question, the developers confirmed that she was “not involved in the creation of the game,” and that “this is not a new story by JK Rowling.” However, he has “worked closely with his team on all aspects of the game.”
Hogwarts Legacy takes inspiration from and features locations and characters from the Harry Potter universe, all created and owned by JK Rowling. This means she will earn a royalty check from Hogwarts Legacy, thus profiting from its sale.
