After the dramatic Fracture Live event, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is finally underway. Epic’s new era of battle royale shakes up the formula once again, introducing a new Reality Augments perk system as well as a shiny new engine.

It completely overhauled the map with several new areas to explore and scattered Oathbound chests for players to find.

What are Oathbound chests in Fortnite?

Oathbound chests are very rare versions of standard chests that contain more valuable loot. The weapons given by these types of chests will always be in rare (blue) tier or higher.

They also have a better chance of dropping one of the new items added in Chapter 4, such as the Shockwave Hammer.

Where to find Oathbound chests in Fortnite

Oathbound chests can be found anywhere in the world medieval section of the map, is located on the western side of the island. If the trees have orange leaves and all the buildings look like old-fashioned houses or palaces, you’ll know if you’ve wandered into the right area.

To increase the odds of finding an Oathbound chest, we recommend landing at one of the four major POIs in the area; Citadel, Breakwater Bay, Broken Slab, either Amla Chowk,

Any regular chest can spawn an Oathbound chest, so be sure to thoroughly search each area. Rare chests are easy to spot because of their large size and distinctive white color.

The spawns will change with each match, so, sadly, you won’t be able to land in the same spot every time and guarantee that there will be an Oathbound chest.

Since these chests contain such valuable loot, and are tied to weekly challenges, don’t be surprised if you have to fend off several other players to secure one.
