Battlefield 2042 Season 3 is in full swing, with DICE confirming that Season 4 is on the way. Here’s everything we know, including Season 4’s release date window, new map details, rejected overhaul, and content.

Battlefield 2042 was confirmed to have four seasons in the first year and although Season 3 coincided with the anniversary of its launch, Season 4 would arrive in 2023. Season 3 brought the brand-new Spearhead map, the Zain Specialist, and even more classic weapons, and we can expect similar content in Season 4.

Of course, with no official closing date, we’ll have to wait for more word from DICE and EA.

Battlefield 2042 Season 3 will likely end the same day as Season 4 begins, ending a few hours before Season 4 begins due to server downtime.

DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will receive a new map in Season 4, and will be “smaller, smaller, and designed in the linear fashion that Battlefield is famous for.”

The devs showed off concept art for the new map, which shows a large indoor arena that is under construction.

Overhaul canceled in Battlefield 2042 Season 4

DICE is working hard to overhaul the launch maps, provide more cover, cut out dead space and replace flags, and Battlefield 2042 will be abandoned during Season 4.

This leaves Hourglass as the final map to be reworked, and the devs will confirm its release date next year.

Battlefield 2042 Season 4 will bring the same content you can expect from other seasons, including “a new specialist, all new Battle Pass, brand new hardware and much more.”

This will also mark the final season of Year 1, with Season 5 coming later in 2023. While Season 5 brings a new map and Battle Pass, it will not bring a new specialist.
