Fortnite Shockwave Hammer disabled as unlimited jump glitch ruins matches

Epic Games has temporarily removed the controversial Shockwave Hammer from Fortnite after players discovered a glitch that allowed them to use the weapon an infinite number of times without recharging.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 arrived with a number of big changes designed to shake up the popular battle royale, from a new perk system called Augments to Oathbound chests filled with rare loot.

One of the most interesting new arrivals was the Shockwave Hammer, a powerful melee weapon that’s perfect for blasting enemies away to buy some valuable time. It also comes with the useful ability for the user to break into the air in order to quickly traverse the map without taking any damage.

However, Epic has decided to disable the Shockwave Hammer after players discovered an exploit that allows them to use the jump feature an infinite number of times without the cooldown.

On January 9th, the Fortnite Status Twitter account posted explaining that Shockwave Hammer has been removed from all playlists while they work on a fix, which will be a relief to anyone who plays a team using the glitch. I have gone.

Thankfully, though, it looks like players won’t have to wait too long to start using the hammer again, if plans go well.

“We intend to re-enable Shockwave Hammer in the next game update when this issue is resolved,” devs Added.

When working correctly, the Shockwave Hammer allows players to rapidly jump five times, covering a great distance before meeting a cooldown. But players quickly discovered that hitting the hammer on the water on the first jump would allow them to use the ability consistently.

This led to several matches being ruined by squads, all armed with shockwave hammers, bouncing around the final circle to avoid incoming fire and damage any enemies they landed on.

Fortunately, Epic has taken action and Fortnite games have returned to a balanced state. There’s no word yet on when the next update that’s ready to unleash the weapon will arrive, but we wouldn’t expect to wait more than a few days.
