Depending on your style of play and the players at your disposal some skill moves will suit you more than others. Luckily, we’ve compiled all of the skill moves in FIFA 23 as well as the best 5-star players to perform top-tier tricks with ease.
Keep in mind that the directions of each input relate to which way the player is facing.
FIFA 23 new skill moves
FIFA 23 delivered four new skill moves and three new fake shots that will disorient your opponents if used properly. Of course, each skill move comes with a minimum star rating requirement that a player must meet if they want to perform the move.
We’ve provided the PlayStation inputs, but Xbox players need only swap L1, L2, R1, and R2 with LB, LT, RB, and RT.
Here are the four new skill moves in FIFA 23 and the required star ratings for each one:
- First Time Feint Turn (1-star, first touch only): Hold L1 + R1 + flick LS down
- Stutter Feint (3-star): Hold L2 + flick RS left then right (or right then left)
- Heel to Ball Roll (4-star): Hold L1 + flick RS up then down (direction determined by LS input)
- Heel Fake (5-star): Hold L2 + flick RS left, then right (or right then left)
Fake shots are a great way to trick players into thinking you’re going for the goal in order to blow right by them. Here are the new fake shot skills that arrived with FIFA 23:
- Stand Open Up Fake Shot (1 Star): L1 + Fake Shot + flick LS in the required direction (except down)
- Jog Open Up Fake Shot (1 Star): L1 + Fake Shot + flick LS right or left (direction determined by LS input)
- Explosive Fake Shot (4 Stars): Fake Shot + flick LS while running (player must have Acceleration and Sprint Speed Attributes at 85 or over)

1-star skill moves can be performed by every single player in FIFA 23, including goalkeepers who are usually quite clumsy with the ball at their feet. While none of these skills are revolutionary, mastering the basics is the first step to understanding skill moves.
