FIFA 23 devs address nerfs after players unearth accidental Ultimate Team changes

A major Nerfing issue discovered by FIFA 23 players rocked the Ultimate Team community at the beginning of the year. In response to the allegations, the devs released a fix for the accidental nerfs.

Ultimate Team players have long been at odds with EA Sports, and that hasn’t changed with FIFA 23. FIFA 23 players revealed key findings that support the idea that EA was discontinuing some Ultimate Team cards.

Obviously, this will be a big issue, seeing as the Ultimate Team transfer market and the value of promo cards are tied to their in-game potential.

It all started when a player realized that Centurions Ibrahimovic’s in-game stats were massively nerfed, resulting in a reduction of 1 million coins in value. Players quickly questioned whether this same strategy had been used on other promo cards.

A few days after the discovery, ea released a statement indicating that “an unexpected issue reduced some attributes for 4 player items in FUT.”

While EA explained that the nerfs to the above cards were incidental, FIFA 23 players were split on the reaction.

Some were pleased with the open communication between the devs and the community: “Crazy that these are issues but we appreciate the honest communication and quick fixes. continue this.”

Others veered in a different direction, all along accusing the devs of Nerfing cards in secret.

As one player put it, “It really doesn’t look good on you because people have suspected you of secretly doing this for years and now it’s clear that you accidentally showed us some of the players’ real stats …”

Players questioned why Ibrahimovic was not included in the cards listed above. However, EA issued an initial statement to rectify the issue before revealing that other cards were also affected.
