Cristiano Ronaldo misses out on FIFA 23 TOTY nominee list

The FIFA 23 TOTY nominee list was revealed and Ultimate Team fans were shocked to know that none other than Cristiano Ronaldo failed to make the shortlist.

The Team of the Year Promo is set to take FIFA 23 by storm as a host of incredible new cards make their way to Ultimate Team. If you’re new to Ultimate Team, you’ll be happy to know that EA hands the power over to the players as they get to vote for TOTY.

The FIFA 23 TOTY nominees were announced on 9 January, with voting set to begin on 10 January. EA offers a shortlist of 100 players that are divided into goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers.

Every year, players cast their vote in hopes of influencing the final TOTY squad. However, this year FIFA 23 players were shocked to learn that some prominent names including Cristiano Ronaldo were omitted from the nominated list.

Cristiano Ronaldo recently joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nasr and the highly publicized move came with an immediate reduction in offline mode from 90 to 88. It’s been a rough week for Ronaldo fans in FIFA 23 as ratings slump followed ratings slump. TOTY Nominee Shortlist.

Cristiano Ronaldo left out of FIFA 23 TOTY nominees

FIFA 23 players have called the omission into question as many believe Ronaldo has done enough to warrant at least one nomination, despite his drop in form.

One player responded: “18 goals and 2 assists? More than half the list. While it can’t be denied that Ronaldo’s incredibly high standards have dropped over the past year, his numbers don’t lie. As that player pointed out, his numbers are better than a lot of attackers on the 100-player shortlist.

Another player also used his goalscoring numbers to question his omission in 2022: “He really scored 18 goals last season and finished 20th in the Ballon d’Or? He’s a no-no but like Joselu.” Somebody probably will again. This is getting a little ridiculous now.

While his failure to make the TOTY nominee list in FIFA 23 is shocking enough, one player revealed that all hope is not lost: “I would say there’s a good chance EA will give him a TOTY flashback SBC during the promo.”

ea TOTY often hand out SBCs after the squad appears. Ronaldo fans who feel cheated by their omission can hold on to hope that EA may have something in store when it comes to the Portuguese legend.

In addition, the omission of Alaba and Rudiger also raised some eyebrows because one player said, “They won the Champions League.”

The nominees are locked and we will have to wait to find out who makes the TOTY team in FIFA 23 as well as who can get SBC during the promo.
